travertine & limestone countertops

Travertine countertops and limestone countertops are oftentimes lumped together due to their many similarities. In fact, travertine is a form of limestone. Travertine countertop colors are considered more earthy than what you’ll find with other stone countertops and are known to provide a “spa-like” feel.

As a porous material, travertine is known to contain many holes of various sizes. Larger holes can be filled with a matching travertine filler. Travertine is highly reactive to acids, like those contained in orange juice, lime juice and soft drink. These acids will etch the material. Regular sealing will prevent travertine countertops from staining.
